Job Summary:

The Lead Cook position at Brown University's Dining Services is a key role that requires a skilled and experienced culinary professional to lead the production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all production on shift, ensuring timely completion while maintaining high department standards. This includes organizing and prioritizing production tasks, assigning and instructing personnel, and training, monitoring, and supporting team members to achieve quality and timely productions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all production on shift, ensuring timely completion and high department standards.
• Organize and prioritize production tasks, assigning and instructing personnel as needed.
• Train, monitor, and support team members to achieve quality and timely productions.
• Ensure adherence to department standards, including safety, sanitation, and preventive maintenance.
• Maintain accurate production records and recommend changes in procedures, staffing, and scheduling to increase efficiency and improve quality.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of production processes, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will also be able to maintain a neat, well-groomed, professional appearance and perform other tasks as requested.

Working Conditions:

This position works 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, and requires the ability to tolerate heat and cold temperatures. The employee will frequently move about campus to various locations for catered events and must consistently utilize all Personal Protective Equipment per Brown Dining Services guidelines.

Education and Experience:

A minimum of 2 years of experience in a production role, preferably in a catering or food service environment, is required. A degree in culinary arts or a related field is preferred.
