LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client to hire a Payroll Specialist with hands-on experience using UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) software for a contract opportunity in San Leandro, California.
In this role, you will be responsible for processing payroll for our employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely disbursements. You will have a strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and the ability to manage payroll tasks efficiently using UKG software.
Key Responsibilities:- Accurately process bi-weekly or monthly payroll for all employees using UKG software, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
- Handle payroll adjustments, including overtime, bonuses, salary increases, deductions, and garnishments.
- Utilize UKG software to maintain employee records, troubleshoot system issues, and ensure data accuracy for payroll.
- Ensure payroll processes comply with federal, state, and local tax regulations, labor laws, and company policies.
- Review and verify employee timesheets and attendance records using UKG's timekeeping module, ensuring proper tracking of work hours and leave balances.
- Assist in preparing and submitting payroll tax reports, including quarterly and annual filings, W-2s, and 1099s.
- Work closely with HR and benefits teams to ensure accurate payroll deductions for benefits, including health insurance, 401(k) contributions, and other deductions.
- Maintain payroll records and support internal and external audits as required.
- Address payroll-related inquiries from employees, ensuring timely resolution of issues related to pay discrepancies, deductions, or benefits.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and ensure best practices are followed to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with UKG software (Ultimate Kronos Group), including payroll and timekeeping modules.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience processing payroll in a medium to large organization, with in-depth knowledge of payroll practices and regulations.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and payroll tax reporting requirements.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage complex payroll processes and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding payroll and employee data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to handle employee inquiries and interact with HR and finance teams.
- Ability to troubleshoot payroll issues and provide solutions in a timely manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and other office tools.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification is a plus.
