Job Overview

We are seeking a committed and vigilant Traffic Management Specialist to oversee the regulation of traffic around construction zones. The primary responsibilities of the Traffic Management Specialist include advising drivers on potential detour routes, notifying law enforcement of traffic violations, and addressing inquiries from motorists. Additionally, you will be tasked with safely guiding emergency vehicles through work areas as necessary.

To excel in this role, you should possess outstanding communication abilities and be capable of collaborating effectively within a team environment. Ultimately, an exemplary Specialist should exhibit a thorough understanding of state traffic laws along with remarkable observational skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilizing hand signals and directional signage to manage traffic flow around construction sites.
  • Coordinating with fellow flaggers and traffic controllers via two-way radios to facilitate traffic movement.
  • Alerting the construction team of any traffic-related concerns that may pose safety risks.
  • Properly placing warning and detour signage around work areas.
  • Establishing barricades and traffic cones to secure specific zones during construction.
  • Removing all traffic control devices upon project completion.
  • Assisting the construction team in clearing debris and hazardous materials.
  • Documenting the license plate numbers of vehicles that disregard traffic regulations.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred certification from the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA).
  • Demonstrated experience in traffic management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of state traffic regulations.
  • Ability to remain standing for extended periods.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time
