Job Title: Lead Specialist in Traveler Information Programs at the Traffic Operations Division

The Traffic Operations Division is seeking a Lead Specialist in Traveler Information Programs to enhance their team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the provision of precise and dependable traveler information through the Virginia Department of Transportation's (VDOT) 511 services. Your responsibilities will include overseeing contracts, monitoring program effectiveness, encouraging innovation, and serving as a representative for VDOT as a recognized expert in the field.

  • Oversee contracts related to Transportation Operations services
  • Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Formulate policies that bolster the Traveler Information Program
  • Offer support and training for Traffic Operations Centers (TOCs) and district field personnel

Minimum Qualifications

  • Capability to operate autonomously and make informed decisions
  • Strong communication abilities
  • Familiarity with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) technologies and federal guidelines
  • Background in traffic and emergency management operations
  • Proficiency in managing responsibilities in a dynamic environment

Additional Considerations

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred
  • Experience in information technology or operations management is advantageous
