Position Overview
The Crisis Communications Manager will be an integral part of a team dedicated to enhancing McDonald's resilience and capacity to safeguard and elevate brand reputation on a global scale.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Crisis Communications, the selected candidate will be tasked with:
- Developing and implementing comprehensive rapid response communication strategies across various channels (paid, earned, owned social), including media statements, FAQs, and external materials such as newsroom updates, while overseeing the approval workflow for these resources.
- Creating communication materials aimed at keeping internal stakeholders and key team members well-informed.
- Managing daily inquiries directed to the global press office and collaborating with different departments to formulate appropriate responses.
- Acting as a subject matter expert in media and external affairs within cross-functional communication response teams.
- Advising senior management on potential reputational risks and threats, as well as identifying emerging risks and trends. This includes providing strategic recommendations for response plans and executing those plans once they receive approval.
- Building and nurturing relationships with a network of media professionals who cover the brand and industry.
- Preparing and training senior leaders and subject matter experts for media engagements and briefings.
Collaboration and Insights
Working closely with the Global Communications Measurement and Insights team to monitor and track emerging issues, utilize data to guide responses, and assess the effectiveness of communication efforts.
Development of Resources
Creating best practices and training materials to assist internal business partners in enhancing their skills and staying informed about current trends in crisis communications.
