Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Marine Fisheries Program Assistant. This is a seasonal position that will provide opportunities to work on various projects related to marine fisheries management and conservation.

The successful candidate will assist with fieldwork, data collection, and laboratory analysis, as well as provide support for public outreach and education initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about marine conservation and want to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with fieldwork, including sampling, data collection, and equipment maintenance
  • Conduct laboratory analysis, including fish processing and aging
  • Provide support for public outreach and education initiatives, including interacting with the public at events and providing information on marine fisheries regulations
  • Assist with data entry and data quality assurance procedures
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as biology, ecology, or environmental science
  • Experience with fieldwork, data collection, and laboratory analysis
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with marine fish and invertebrate identification
  • Experience with use of Microsoft Office software suite and Microsoft Access
  • Experience with data entry and data quality assurance/control procedures
Working Conditions

This is a seasonal position that will require working outdoors in various weather conditions. The successful candidate will be required to lift and move 50 lbs, deploy and haul fishing gear in various hydrographic conditions, and embark/disembark unassisted from an anchored vessel into waist deep water.
