Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention

The State of Connecticut is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species in the Connecticut River.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interact with and educate boaters at public boat launches about aquatic invasive species and clean boating practices.
  • Perform voluntary inspections of boats and trailers to check for and remove aquatic invasive plants and animals.
  • Assist with public outreach events and provide education on aquatic invasive species prevention.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement effective prevention strategies.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of aquatic invasive species and their impacts on the environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
