Role Focus
The primary responsibility of the Business Development Manager is to initiate, cultivate, and finalize solar and storage projects, presenting multi-technology solutions through our PowerFlex X energy management platform and patented EV charging systems to major corporations and large private enterprises across North America. This position entails managing strategic client relationships through insightful solar consultations and exceptional customer service throughout the project origination and development phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture new and existing relationships with corporate leaders and energy/facility/property managers to explore and execute solar and storage projects.
  • Introduce our expanding EV charging and Energy Management Software solutions as integral components of the PowerFlex offering.
  • Generate new accounts and opportunities through various methods including cold outreach, email marketing, targeted campaigns, networking, and participation in industry events.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to address and manage critical issues related to financial, legal, energy, technical, and tax aspects of solar and storage initiatives.
  • Provide strategic guidance on project structuring, market insights, and consultation for portfolio projects.
  • Maintain a robust project pipeline through the origination and development stages of the sales cycle, ensuring consistent volume and balance across project types, markets, and customer segments.
  • Monitor market trends and conditions by engaging with industry policy groups, maintaining relationships with stakeholders, and staying informed on national solar market developments.
  • Lead responses to RFPs in close collaboration with internal support teams.
  • Work alongside project development, financing, and legal teams to negotiate and finalize project contracts.
  • Build and manage internal and external networks with strategic channel partners.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that delivers exceptional service and results for clients.
  • Document all sales activities in Salesforce.

Qualifications
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the solar or renewable energy sector is required.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in Business Development and/or Sales.
  • Previous experience in structuring high-value project transactions and portfolio deals.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proven track record in commercial solar project sales with major corporations.
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect and develop a pipeline for solar and storage projects.
  • Experience in negotiating and executing complex third-party owned project transactions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of project and structured finance.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant solar policies, trends, utility incentives, and state incentives.
  • Ability to structure complex multi-site and multi-market project portfolios.
  • Extensive experience with Salesforce, including report and dashboard creation.
  • Capacity to prioritize high-value tasks and opportunities to maintain project momentum.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate within interdisciplinary teams while effectively communicating sales objectives and strategies.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, capable of working independently when necessary.
  • Highly energetic and results-oriented, with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
  • Possesses executive presence, strong communication, and presentation skills.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this role is $115,000 - $192,000 annually. This position is eligible for PowerFlex's comprehensive health and welfare benefits, including medical, dental, vision, a 401(k) retirement plan, and paid time off. Total compensation may also include an annual performance bonus or other incentive compensation as applicable. PowerFlex carefully considers candidates' qualifications, experiences, and education in relation to the position.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, up to four hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to fifteen pounds.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as necessary.

Working Conditions
This role may require travel for in-person client meetings, conferences, and site visits. Primarily an office-based position, but occasional field visits will be necessary, which may involve standing, walking, and documenting existing conditions. The work environment is generally an office setting, with frequent use of a computer and other office equipment.
