Position Summary

We are currently seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Technician to oversee the installation and maintenance of fire alarm systems across various projects, including both industrial and commercial sectors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, efficiency, and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of fire alarm systems and associated devices, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Interpret and analyze project documentation and work orders to determine the scope of work for inspections and identify any additional information required.
  • Communicate any issues or concerns regarding assigned projects to the Coordinator promptly.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of integrating fire alarm systems with HVAC controls, smoke management systems, elevator controllers, and other related systems.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of fire alarm protection principles and the operation of suppression systems, including awareness of potential hazards during inspections and maintenance.
  • Arrive at job sites equipped with necessary testing tools, including multi-meters and hand tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and operational manuals relevant to the tasks at hand.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork for customer service activities and ensure timely submission of documentation for master customer files and future inspections.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding services performed and other sensitive information.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; a 2-4 year degree in a technical field is preferred.
  • NICET II certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the installation of low voltage systems, including fire/life safety systems.
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as multi-meters and digital analyzers is essential.
  • Understanding of electrical principles, including Ohm's law and AC/DC circuits.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and handle stressful situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Experience in commercial construction environments is required.
  • Personal hand tools must be provided by the technician.
