Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Cost Estimator to become a vital part of our team. This role is crucial for generating precise and timely cost estimates for various projects, both in the private and public sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze proposal specifications, architectural drawings, soil reports, and current site conditions to define the project scope.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings to gather essential information.
- Prepare pre-bid Requests for Information (RFIs) before the specification cutoff date.
- Engage subcontractors and suppliers prior to the bid deadline to ensure comprehensive coverage of the project scope.
- Collaborate with other divisions and subcontractors to coordinate the scope of work.
- Generate estimates by performing detailed takeoffs of the project scope.
- Maintain organized files of working documents to support estimating figures.
- Communicate with owners and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility.
- Assist in project initiation and budget handoff.
- Monitor post-bid submission timelines to facilitate contract procurement.
- Manage awarded contracts as assigned, which may include estimating additional work items, change orders, and monitoring project progress and budgets.
- Lead bid closing processes.
- Mentor and train junior estimating staff.
- Support the Chief Estimator with software maintenance and updates.
- Advocate for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Engage in alternative delivery pursuits.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred, or equivalent combinations of technical training and relevant experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of estimating experience, including at least 1 year of field experience.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability to lead estimates for bids up to $75 million.
- Strong work ethic and exceptional time management skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and computer skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of company procedures, estimating techniques, and engineering disciplines.
- Proficiency in Bid2Win Estimating software and familiarity with Agtek, SureTrak, Primavera P6, MS Project, Blue Beam, and SketchUp.
- Advanced skills in reading plans and specifications, as well as performing takeoffs.
- Understanding of construction sequencing and project staffing needs.
- Familiarity with contract accounting and critical path methodologies.
- Valid driver's license required.

Salary Range:
$120,000 - $135,000.
