Compensation Information

The annual salary range for this position is $132,810 - $170,556 for the SES.2 level. Please note that this range serves as a general guideline, and various factors, including education and experience, will influence the final compensation.

Position Overview

We are looking for skilled engineers to enhance our interdisciplinary team focused on analyzing the resilience of various infrastructure systems against cyber, physical, and natural threats. Your role will involve leveraging technical expertise, critical thinking, and analytical skills to navigate complex problems and provide valuable insights to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate precise analytical inquiries and strategies to deliver insights on intricate infrastructure resilience challenges.
  • Create analytical models and frameworks to evaluate key issues related to infrastructure resilience, including interdependencies and impacts from various threats.
  • Utilize physical and computational simulations to gain insights into complex infrastructure systems.
  • Innovate methods that draw from established disciplines such as systems engineering and risk analysis.
  • Collaborate with scientists across diverse technical fields, including cybersecurity and natural hazards.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities effectively, ensuring timely completion while working independently.
  • Communicate intricate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders.
  • Engage with technical contacts at partner organizations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
  • Master's degree in engineering, computer sciences, operations research, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in developing models for complex infrastructure systems and assessing associated risks.
  • Strong ability to define research questions and establish effective methodologies.
  • Proficient communication skills for presenting technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Experience in computational disciplines such as risk analysis and data analytics.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel for stakeholder interactions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in relevant fields such as engineering or computer sciences.
  • Experience in the design and operations of infrastructure systems.
  • Proficiency in programming tools such as Python or MATLAB for modeling and simulations.

Security Clearance Requirements

This position necessitates a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. Selected candidates will undergo a Federal background investigation to assess eligibility for access to classified information.
