HOW A SOFTWARE ENGINEER WILL CONTRIBUTE
This role is pivotal in the Geospatial Services & Solutions sector, delivering high-quality and cost-efficient solutions to our clients. As a member of the GSS Team, your skills will be utilized to enhance a complex enterprise environment.

The Geospatial Software Engineer will actively engage in SAFe and Scrum development teams, taking charge of creating and deploying tailored solutions within the customer's enterprise framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct research, design, develop, test, and/or modify comprehensive Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and geospatial application software.
  • Evaluate user/business software system requirements to ascertain needs.
  • Assess application functionality and implement upgrades as necessary.
  • Maintain software documentation to adhere to development policies, standards, and procedures, including design specifications, user manuals, and technical guides.
  • Enhance system monitoring while upholding established security protocols across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Collaborate with the Scrum Master using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to provide accurate delivery estimates, manage transitions from analysis to design and delivery, address delivery risks, define stories, and plan future sprints.
  • Design, implement, and maintain well-structured, documented, efficient, and testable application code across various networks using Python, Java, and JavaScript.
  • Prepare and release new software components.
  • Develop automated unit and integration test cases, evaluating code quality with automated tools.
  • Offer technical support and consultation for application and infrastructure inquiries.
  • Align with the client's strategic objectives.
  • Utilize the client's enterprise DevSecOps pipeline.

EDUCATION:


Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.


QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of relevant software development experience

Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related business field.
  • Experience in GIS-related fields and technical expertise.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps/DevSecOps processes and workflows.
  • Experience in building and managing container images (Docker) and deploying application systems to cloud or on-premises infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, and Nexus.
  • Proven experience with COTS exploitation software like ArcGIS, Google Earth, and others in both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GIS software (ArcGIS Pro, Desktop, Enterprise), QGIS, GeoServer, PostGIS (PostgreSQL), and programming for GIS systems (C++, Java, SQL, Python, JavaScript, HTML).
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively resolve technical challenges.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a small team.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required with eligibility for CI poly.
Desired

  • Experience with data exchange formats such as GeoRSS, KML, KMZ, WFS, WMS, ESRI Shapefile, JSON/GeoJSON.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services such as S3 and RDS.
  • Experience with geospatial data tools like GDAL/OGR, ESRI, ArcPy, GeoPandas.
  • Proficiency in working with raster and vector datasets such as GeoTIFF, along with familiarity in image processing and analysis technologies.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining HTTP REST APIs.

The likely salary range for this position is $119,000 - $161,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.

Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
