Role Responsibilities

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the role of Human Geographer - Mid-Level. This position involves the production of human geography outputs. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess adaptability and teamwork skills, and be committed to delivering precise and timely GEOINT. Professionalism is essential.

The Human Geography Division within the Office of Geography offers a diverse range of Human Geography products to clients across the Intelligence Community (IC), National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG), and Allied Support Group (ASG). These clients depend on the accurate and prompt delivery of these products to inform policy decisions and facilitate mission planning and execution. The role involves supporting operations within the GEOINT enterprise, responding to requirements and formal requests for geospatial data.

The selected candidate will leverage their understanding of geography, research methodologies, GIS, and data management skills to produce a variety of human geography products, including attributed datasets, maps, and comprehensive reports. The production process may encompass phases such as research, evaluation, extraction, creation, quality control, metadata attribution, and dissemination. Participation in technical exchanges with government representatives, partners, and contract personnel will be a key aspect of this role, focusing on Human Geography production standards and related issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active Top-Secret/SCI security clearance at the time of application, with a willingness to undergo a CI polygraph examination if requested.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) or the Intelligence Community's GEOINT mission.
  • Solid understanding of Human Geography principles.
  • Experience in researching and extracting both geospatial and non-geospatial information.
  • Familiarity with imagery research and attribution processes.
  • Proficient in utilizing ArcGIS Pro software for data creation, attribution, and management.
  • Experience in geo-enabling non-spatial datasets.
  • Ability to effectively communicate GEOINT products and services to peers and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the regional, cultural, and political geography relevant to the assigned area.
  • Experience applying established cartographic principles and geo-referencing techniques in the development of geospatial products.
  • Background in creating and publishing GEOINT outputs.
  • Working knowledge of at least one foreign language pertinent to the assigned region.
  • Experience producing data and products in accordance with NSG standards.
  • Familiarity with open-source data harvesting, process automation, and scripting.
  • Experience in data management and schema development.
  • Proficiency with Google Earth Engine (GEE).
  • Basic knowledge of Python scripting.
  • Completion of relevant formal or advanced military training or possession of a current GEOINT Professional Certification-Foundations (GPC-F) is preferred.
