Position Title: Billing and Accounts Receivable Specialist

Department Overview: The Billing and Accounts Receivable team plays a crucial role in assisting patients with inquiries and concerns related to professional and hospital billing. This position involves conducting account research, verifying balances, and providing patient support while ensuring compliance with billing policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients with billing inquiries and concerns.
  • Perform thorough account research and balance verification.
  • Initiate patient disputes and manage the movement of patient balances within the billing system.
  • Collaborate with patients, insurance follow-up teams, and clinical departments to optimize collections.
  • Utilize independent judgment to prioritize tasks effectively.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years of experience in healthcare billing, collections, or medical office settings is necessary. A four-year degree may substitute for this experience.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Fair Debt Collection Practices Act guidelines and medical coding (CPT/ICD10).
  • Experience with Epic billing systems is advantageous.
  • Coding certification is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with effective problem-resolution abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a team-oriented environment.

Additional Requirements:

The candidate must be organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently. This role requires handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion. The ability to perform under pressure and engage in professional discussions regarding collections is essential.

Compensation:

Minimum Pay Rate: Hourly: $15.45

Midpoint Pay Rate: Hourly: $19.65
