POSITION SUMMARY

The West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, Inc. (WSFSSH) is dedicated to providing secure, affordable living options complemented by supportive services that promote the autonomy and dignity of each individual. WSFSSH is committed to developing, managing, and offering housing solutions for low-income elderly individuals, many of whom may face mental health challenges or have histories of homelessness.

Under the guidance of the administrator, the front desk personnel play a crucial role in delivering various services and oversight to the residents of The Westbourne, aiming to empower them to live safely and independently. Furthermore, the front desk team is tasked with fostering an atmosphere of respect and compassion, enhancing the dignity of residents, staff, and visitors alike. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

RESIDENT OVERSIGHT:
  • Monitor the welfare of residents, including:
  • Observe residents entering and exiting the facility, addressing any behaviors that may pose risks to themselves or others (for instance, if a resident appears disoriented while leaving, the response may involve engaging them in conversation and encouraging them to remain in the lobby, alerting social service staff, or calling emergency services if necessary).
  • Respond to emergency alerts from resident rooms, relay requests to the appropriate personnel, and implement emergency protocols as required.
  • Supervise the use of communal areas.
  • Assist residents in accessing necessary services, including requests for facility management and/or social services.
  • Document and forward all maintenance requests to the relevant staff.
  • Monitor all individuals entering or exiting the premises, including maintaining a sign-in/out log for guests, vendors, and aides.
  • Exercise discretion to deny entry based on facility policies and/or directives from residents and/or management.
  • Monitor alarms and investigate any disturbances.
  • Notify the supervisor and/or manager of emergencies in accordance with facility protocols.
  • Communicate emergency information clearly to authorities, residents, and other staff members. Call emergency services as needed.
  • Conduct safety rounds as directed.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
  • Answer the facility's phone in a courteous and professional manner, directing calls to the appropriate employees, referring calls to voicemail, and taking messages as necessary.
  • Maintain a daily log of activities, incidents, and observations.
  • Compose clear and accurate reports of incidents and actions taken.
  • Ensure that the front sidewalk is clear of ice, snow, and any hazardous obstructions or debris, either through referral to the appropriate staff or by performing the necessary work.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate as part of a team to uphold a high standard of care and respect for residents.
  • Share information regarding resident progress, needs, and concerns with other staff in compliance with WSFSSH Confidentiality Policy.
  • Participate in training sessions and conferences as required to enhance job skills.
  • Implement emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Submit all required reports accurately and promptly.
  • Work cooperatively and collegially with fellow staff members.
  • Assist with additional duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required; higher education is preferred.
  • Able to work effectively in a multicultural and diverse environment.
  • Capable of fulfilling job responsibilities.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English (as required by regulatory standards).
  • Experience working with dependent individuals is preferred.
