Job Summary:

As the Culinary Operations Manager, you will be instrumental in managing all facets of food preparation and operational efficiency within our establishment. This role demands a unique combination of culinary skill, entrepreneurial mindset, and robust leadership to ensure the kitchen operates smoothly and meets our high standards. Your responsibilities will include maintaining quality benchmarks, enhancing productivity, overseeing inventory, and guiding a team of culinary professionals to provide outstanding dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Kitchen Oversight: Direct the daily functions of the kitchen, ensuring food preparation, cooking, and presentation align with established recipes and quality standards. Provide expert guidance and support to all kitchen personnel.
  • Menu Innovation: Collaborate with ownership and culinary team members to design creative and appealing menu options that reflect customer preferences and seasonal ingredients.
  • Inventory Management: Supervise inventory levels for food and kitchen supplies, analyze usage trends, and implement effective ordering systems to reduce waste and enhance cost efficiency. Ensure proper preparation and storage of all menu items while adhering to FIFO practices.
  • Quality Control: Uphold rigorous quality assurance protocols to guarantee the freshness and flavor of all dishes served. Conduct routine inspections of ingredients and kitchen facilities to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Recruit, onboard, and train kitchen staff, including chefs and cooks. Provide continuous coaching and performance feedback to cultivate a positive work environment and ensure adherence to food safety regulations.
  • Staff Scheduling: Create and manage staff schedules to align with operational needs while controlling labor expenses. Monitor employee hours and compliance with labor regulations.
  • Supplier Relations: Build and maintain relationships with food suppliers and vendors. Negotiate pricing and coordinate deliveries to ensure timely access to necessary ingredients.
  • Financial Oversight: Develop and manage budgets for the kitchen department. Track expenses, analyze discrepancies, and implement cost-saving measures to meet financial objectives.
  • Customer Experience: Aim to surpass customer expectations by delivering exceptional food quality and service. Address customer feedback and concerns promptly to foster loyalty.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Conduct regular inspections and implement corrective measures as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience as a chef, kitchen manager, or culinary leader in a high-volume dining environment.
  • Strong culinary abilities with a commitment to food quality and presentation.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse kitchen team.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking capabilities, with a focus on prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of kitchen equipment, food safety protocols, and sanitation practices.
  • Understanding of inventory management and budgeting principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling professional interactions with customers and team members.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, in a dynamic restaurant environment.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred, or a minimum of two years of cooking experience.
