Position Title: Safety Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a committed and knowledgeable Safety Engineer to manage safety protocols for our construction projects. This role is essential in safeguarding the health and safety of all personnel involved in the construction process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure comprehensive safety oversight for all construction initiatives.
  • Facilitate the initiation of work permits while ensuring adherence to safety regulations.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings to enhance worker awareness of safety measures.
  • Serve as the main safety contact between project management and contractors.
  • Monitor safety practices to avert accidents and uphold a secure working environment.
  • Perform regular inspections to detect potential safety hazards.
  • Develop and enforce safety policies and operational procedures.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation and records.
  • Investigate incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Deliver safety training and educational programs for staff and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations at all levels.
  • Prepare and present safety performance reports to management.
  • Collaborate with various professionals to ensure safety is prioritized throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Completion of OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour training courses.
  • Preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety roles within the construction sector.
  • Familiarity with safety management software and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA standards.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • Professional certifications such as CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) are advantageous.
  • First Aid and CPR certification may be necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capacity to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in diverse weather conditions.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily based on construction sites with occasional office duties.
  • May require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats and safety glasses.
