We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Roadway Worker In Charge to join our team at National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS). As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of our rail network and providing exceptional service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide jobsite coordination and ensure that all safety protocols are followed.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, train crews, and other railroad personnel to ensure smooth operations.
- Conduct thorough job briefings with all personnel on each job site to ensure they are aware of the safety procedures and protocols.
- Enforce all railroad, state, and federal policies and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Identify and resolve rule violations in accordance with railroad, state, and federal policies.
- Ensure that all contractors and personnel are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties safely.
- Submit daily field reports detailing contractor and railroad activities to ensure accountability and transparency.
- Provide on-track safety in accordance with 49 CFR 214 federal regulations for Class 1 railroads, regional short lines, transit systems, state DOT rail divisions, railroad suppliers, railroad contractors, and/or railroad consultants.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field, preferably in the maintenance of way department.
- Strong knowledge of railroad engineering, design, construction, and safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
- Ability to travel for extended periods of time, sometimes for months at a time.
- Ability to successfully complete federal, client, and/or company-specific training.
