Role Expectations:

Caterpillar is on the lookout for a Production Engineering Specialist. In this capacity, you will deliver engineering support tailored to a specific segment of the assembly line, ensuring both efficiency and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and disseminate work instructions.
  • Generate machine routings utilizing SAP.
  • Oversee capital projects focused on Safety, Quality, Efficiency, and Cost Management.
  • Design and implement lifting mechanisms and necessary fixtures to facilitate assembly processes.
  • Resolve internal and external quality challenges related to your designated area.
  • Manage changes in capacity and product mix.
  • Create and refine the assembly process for New Product Introductions (NPI) or Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills:

  • Lean Manufacturing: Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and their application; ability to incorporate lean methodologies into current production and management systems.
  • Manufacturing Standards and Procedures: Familiarity with organizational standards and protocols in manufacturing; capacity to plan, guide, and assess manufacturing processes for adherence.
  • Manufacturing Techniques: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods and technologies; ability to execute, plan, manage, and oversee the complete manufacturing cycle.
  • Analytical and Critical Thinking: Proficiency in decision-making processes and related tools; capability to analyze situations accurately and make informed decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in manufacturing or operations through internships or cooperative education.
  • Familiarity with engineering principles.
  • Relevant manufacturing skills, including:
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Project management or budgeting experience.
  • Proficiency in SAP.
