Position Summary:

The HR Generalist plays a crucial role in supporting the HR Director and HR Business Partners in executing various HR functions while maintaining confidentiality regarding sensitive company and employee information.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive HR support to business units across multiple states and locations.
  • Demonstrate strong collaboration skills, customer service orientation, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Assist in all facets of human resources, focusing on employee data management, job descriptions, performance evaluations, and leave processes.
  • Establish strong business partnerships to ensure the success of HR initiatives.
  • Advise employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain and update various databases and spreadsheets, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Generate and distribute standard and customized reports to track follow-up requirements and summarize key information.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and maintain standardized templates and presentations to enhance efficiency.
  • Facilitate annual open enrollment programs and address benefits-related inquiries.
  • Administer performance incentive programs and ensure timely processing of awards.
  • Engage in special projects and assist in their design and execution.
  • Communicate new programs, events, and timelines to staff in collaboration with the HR Director.
Work Environment:
  • Primarily office-based with occasional visits to operational areas.
  • Must exercise caution when handling office supplies and be aware of potential hazards in plant environments.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of relevant HR experience.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficient in advanced PC skills, particularly in spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite is advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal regulations related to HR.
  • Solid understanding of labor laws, organizational development, and HRIS systems (PeopleSoft preferred).
  • Ability to effectively interface and negotiate with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of labor unions and union avoidance strategies is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, planning, organizational, and time management skills.
Certifications:
  • PHR/SPHR or other HR certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands, reach, and communicate verbally.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May require travel to support business operations.
