Job Overview

We are currently in search of candidates for the role of Property and Casualty Risk Management Engineer (PCRE). This position is situated within the Risk Engineering Services division and plays a crucial role in the value-added services we offer to our commercial insurance clients. The PCRE will primarily engage with clients in the western Pennsylvania region and will report to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Risk Engineering Service Branch Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

The main objective of this role is to enhance the understanding of client operations for our underwriting team. Responsibilities include advising clients on optimal practices concerning their current operations and programs, such as employee safety, fleet management, facility upkeep, business continuity, and product safety. The PCRE will also assist clients in identifying potential hazards within their facilities and, when necessary, provide recommendations for enhanced practices. Furthermore, the role involves discussing and delivering Chubb's risk engineering services tailored to meet client requirements and improve loss history.

On-site evaluations and virtual assessments will be conducted with both existing and prospective clients, culminating in comprehensive reports that assess hazards and controls for effective risk selection, pricing, and application of underwriting strategies aimed at fostering profitable growth.

Daily tasks will encompass scheduling client visits or virtual meetings, managing client correspondence and inquiries, completing reports, following up on recommendations, and collaborating with claims and underwriting teams to ensure we surpass service expectations and consistently support effective risk selection and client retention.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • A minimum of five years of experience in property, casualty, and workers' compensation insurance risk management and loss prevention, with a focus on hazard evaluation and control.
  • Strong skills in hazard identification, particularly in Property, General Liability, Products, and Workers' Compensation coverages.
  • Experience in counseling and delivering presentations to clients on various safety-related topics.
  • In-depth understanding of existing exposures and safety controls across multiple lines of business, including property, business interruption, product liability, workers' compensation, and commercial vehicle.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in customer interviewing techniques and technical report writing.
  • Demonstrated initiative, effective time management, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Acrobat.
  • A solid background in Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics is highly preferred.
Education and Certification:
  • A four-year degree in Safety & Health, Sciences, or Engineering is preferred.
  • Relevant professional designations or certifications such as CSP, CIH, AOEE, or ARM are highly desirable.
