Patient Access Coordinator

Job Summary
The Patient Access Tech II PRN role at Children's Hospital Of The King's Daughters involves facilitating the revenue cycle by accurately collecting, documenting, and retrieving data with computerized systems. This position reports to department leadership and requires effective communication and collaboration with various departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify insurance coverage for active policies, confirm benefits, and authorization requirements.
- Review and update registration discrepancies.
- Communicate authorization requirements to staff to ensure proper authorization.
- Collaborate with departments on patient access-related information.
- Conduct pre-registration and insurance verification for CHKDHS services.
- Provide coverage to assigned registration locations as needed.
- Function as a Patient Account Tech I as necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Three to five years of related work experience preferred.
- Minimum twelve months of medical billing and follow-up experience in a hospital patient account department, physician office, or medical services organization.
- Familiarity with ICD-9/CPT coding, third-party payer insurance verification processes, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in computer keyboarding skills and ability to relate well with the public.
Working Conditions
The normal office environment has little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, and the like. Frequent exposure to communicable disease and moderately adverse working conditions due to performance of certain patient care activities.
