Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Marketing and Communications Specialist to join our team at Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation (UIC). As a key member of our corporate team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing integrated marketing and communication plans to facilitate business growth and create brand awareness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and produce marketing collateral, including company literature, corporate identity pieces, advertisements, presentations, newsletters, and annual reports.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of overall marketing and communications programs and strategies.
  • Draft feature and editorial articles, as well as a range of business communications for print and electronic publications.
  • Ensure company branding and graphic identity is maintained, and apply corporate standards to different mediums, including print, web, social media, etc.
  • Develop and coordinate promotional activities, including client meetings, company-sponsored events, and tradeshows.
  • Maintain online content, including external websites and internal employee portals, to ensure usability, functionality, and relevance.
  • Assist in theme and content development for various projects.
  • Prepare briefing and communications materials for Executive Management staff.
  • Copyedit, proofread, and revise marketing and communications materials.
  • Maintain inventory of company promotional materials.
  • Monitor processes and implement improvements to enhance marketing productivity.
Requirements
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively, and effectively with clients, colleagues, executives, and external audiences at many levels of authority.
  • Experience and demonstrated expertise in graphic design with the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat).
  • Experience with social media management tools (Hootsuite, Sprout, Social Pilot, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Wordpress and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with tracking and reporting web and social media analytics.
  • Necessary personality, communication, and leadership skills to engage and motivate a diverse group of staff members.
  • Desire to work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently to attain goals.
  • Proven dependability and ability to manage a large workload with competing priorities.
  • The ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Dependable performance and punctual attendance.
  • Self-motivated, confident, energetic, and creative.
  • Creative problem-solving skills: the ability to apply sound judgment and innovative ideas to meet presented challenges.
  • Experience and familiarity with Alaska Native Corporations (preferred).
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with industry and activities in Alaska (preferred).
Education and Experience
  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or related field.
  • Experience of comparable value may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Five years of experience as a professional in marketing, public relations, or communications-related position that includes:
  • Demonstrated growth of responsibilities.
  • Knowledge and use of APA style and grammar guidelines.
  • Experience with html, Wordpress content management systems (CMS), Microsoft SharePoint, and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat) and Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Supporting website management and maintaining website content.
  • Developing and executing corporate branding.
  • Supporting publishing of newsletters.
  • Event management, from planning, preparation, to execution.
  • Proficient in graphic design through the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat).
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel).
Authorized Driver Requirement

Employee must possess a valid driver license and pass Smith Driver Training within one year of hire.

Individuals with one or more serious violations (DUI/DWI) shall not be authorized to drive vehicles, including company, personal, or rental cars to conduct company business.

Employee must follow the UIC Authorized Driver Policy and Procedures regarding approved vehicle usage.

Drug and Alcohol Testing Programs

All employees must pass Non-DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all UMIAQ Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program guidelines and requirements.

If working on a DOT project, employees must pass a DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program requirements.

Work Environment & Conditions

This position is based in Anchorage, Alaska, with travel to Utqiaġvik, Alaska, statewide, and throughout the Lower 48 as needed.

Typical office setting in a large office building. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require frequent standing and walking. Occasional travel to Construction Site Settings. May be subject to environmental conditions of a general office setting/construction setting.

Frequent work-related travel by air.
