About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Community Development Planning Specialist to join our team at the Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in advising the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Economic Development on the operation of Office functions and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation: Develop, implement, and modify policies, regulations, initiatives, handbooks, and operational directives that guide a wide range of Office program activities and operations.
  • Policy Analysis and Advice: Analyze new legislation or regulations relating to CPD programs to determine impact on program operations and management.
  • Special Assignments: Perform special assignments concerning high-level policy issues brought to the immediate attention of the DAS and in doing so, resolves issues and disposes of matters which require coordination, arbitration, or decision involving programmatic, administrative, and organizational issues.
  • Communication and Reporting: Prepare replies to various requests including issuances, regulations, and other publications; analyzes such requests for their overall impact on the program responsibilities of the Office.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as urban planning, public administration, or a related field, and at least 5 years of experience in community development planning, program management, or a related field.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong analytical, communication, and technical skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Clearance and Certification: Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a security clearance.
