Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer will play a crucial role in providing engineering support across all manufacturing processes and equipment. This position encompasses responsibilities such as designing parts and machinery, maintenance, tooling, and troubleshooting of equipment and processes. The engineer will also oversee the delivery, installation, and ramp-up of new equipment while driving improvements in key performance indicators through process optimization and lean manufacturing principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the installation, debugging, and qualification of new equipment, including runoff at suppliers and training on new technologies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by applying lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Focus on enhancing cycle times, availability (OEE), and labor efficiency.
  • Assist in developing maintenance schedules and requirements for replacement parts.
  • Plan and budget for necessary investments and tooling for new programs in collaboration with the planning department.
  • Communicate effectively with global departments to share lessons learned and best practices.
  • Participate in team activities to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to address existing part quality issues.
  • Provide technical support for maintenance and production as needed.
  • Support cross-functional team activities, including audits and customer visits.
  • Prepare and present materials to various groups as required.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for changes to processes and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and equipment maintenance.
  • Experience with CNC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with press equipment and die design.
  • Understanding of high-speed assembly and manufacturing techniques.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, statistical analysis, and root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills in an engineering context.
  • Familiarity with robotics and AutoCAD software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced understanding of automatic transmission functions.
  • Experience in a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of achieving measurable results in lean manufacturing.
  • Experience in solving complex issues using continuous improvement tools.

Physical Requirements:

Candidates must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds during their shift.
