  • Position Overview
    The Junior Research Scientist role is integral to the development of AAV candidates within SSi People's preclinical gene therapy initiatives. This position involves collaboration within a multidisciplinary team focused on the production and analysis of AAV-based vectors utilizing transient transfection techniques in mammalian cell systems. The ideal candidate will possess significant expertise in mammalian cell culture and viral vector generation, along with a solid understanding of molecular biology methodologies, including plasmid construction and molecular assays for AAV characterization. Prior experience in AAV vector generation is highly preferred. Furthermore, the candidate should stay informed about relevant scientific literature and demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively share findings with team members.
  • Key Responsibilities
    - Execute production and analytical evaluation of AAV vectors through mammalian cell culture techniques.
    - Design, refine, and troubleshoot protocols for AAV production workflows.
    - Maintain meticulous and organized electronic documentation, ensuring timely submissions.
    - Communicate findings to team members through comprehensive written reports and direct interactions.
  • Candidate Profile
    The successful applicant will have a background in viral vector production and cell culture methodologies, with a desire to deepen their understanding of AAV-based gene therapies. A commitment to acquiring innovative technical skills in a collaborative and cross-functional setting is essential.
  • Essential Qualifications
    - BS/MS degree in Biochemistry, Biology, or a related discipline, accompanied by 1-3 years of relevant industry experience.
    - Practical experience with adherent or suspension mammalian cell culture, proficiency in aseptic techniques, and a proven ability to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot new protocols and methodologies.
    - Familiarity with fundamental molecular and analytical techniques, including PCR assays, plasmid preparation, and gel electrophoresis.
    - Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members.
    - Capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently, adapt to evolving circumstances, and prioritize tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  • Desirable Qualifications
    - Hands-on experience in the production of viral vectors or recombinant proteins using mammalian cell culture.
    - Previous exposure to bench-scale bioreactors with mammalian systems.
