Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Care for Campers: Provide attentive supervision and care for a group of children, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Implement Daily Programs: Assist in planning and implementing engaging and developmentally appropriate activities that promote youth development, physical fitness, and academic enrichment.
  • Maintain a Safe and Clean Environment: Ensure the camp site and equipment are clean and well-maintained, adhering to licensing protocols and YMCA standards.
  • Communicate Effectively: Cultivate positive relationships with parents, children, and staff, maintaining effective communication and modeling relationship-building skills.
  • Participate in Staff Meetings and Trainings: Attend staff meetings and trainings to stay informed about program developments and best practices.
Requirements
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
  • Experience: Six months of programmatic experience with children, preferably in a camp setting.
  • Training: Must complete 24 hours of training to meet the licensing standards of a licensed child day center.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification: Preferred, but will receive training through the YMCA if not certified.
  • Group Management and Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional group management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Communication Skills: Possess speaking, listening, and writing skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Physical Demands: Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions of the position and to supervise and participate in program activities.
