Summer Camp Program Lead

The YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Summer Camp Program Lead to join our team. As a key member of our summer camp staff, you will be responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and effective communication to ensure the well-being and safety of our summer camp participants and support staff.
The ideal candidate will possess high energy, a genuine passion for working with children, and excellent team-oriented skills. They will assist the Summer Camp Director in planning, implementing, and facilitating a structured daily schedule that meets the needs of our campers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage Summer Camp Aides and help develop and train them to grow in supportive roles.
- Supervise a group of children alongside Summer Camp Site Directors and be responsible for their overall health and well-being.
- Take group attendance daily and maintain a clean and safe campsite.
- Plan and implement program activities that are engaging, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.
- Adhere to program standards regarding safety, cleanliness, and adherence to licensing protocol.
- Able to attend and participate in scheduled field trips and off-site activities.
- Attend training and staff meetings with Summer Camp leadership.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Six months of programmatic experience with children, preferably in a camp setting.
- Must complete 24 hours of training to meet the licensing standards of a licensed child day center.
- Preferred CPR/First-Aid certification.
- Exceptional group management, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Experience creating, planning, and facilitating interactive and educational/artistic activities relating to youth development, physical fitness, and academic enrichment.
