YWCA Lancaster is seeking a dedicated Legal Support Specialist to play a crucial role in our mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft and prepare legal documents such as Temporary Protection from Abuse (PFA) filings, Sexual Violence Protection Orders (SVPO), and other essential petitions for court proceedings. Conduct interviews to inform victims about their legal options, including the implications of Temporary PFA filings and related processes.
  • Accompany clients to court and other legal settings to provide advocacy, emotional support, and follow-up assistance.
  • Collaborate with various legal and administrative entities to ensure timely filing of PFA petitions.
  • Utilize evaluation tools and compile necessary data for reporting purposes.
  • Complete required training programs, including a 40-hour Sexual Assault Prevention and Counseling Training Course and a 45-hour Domestic Violence training.
  • Participate in community meetings and maintain accurate client records and program statistics.
  • Engage in case management and supervision, working closely with the Director of SAPCC.
  • Serve as backup for the 24-hour crisis hotline.
  • Participate in YWCA Lancaster mission-related activities.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications:
  • A strong commitment to the YWCA's mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
  • Understanding of confidentiality policies and a dedication to the rights of all survivors.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in trauma-informed counseling is advantageous.
  • Completion of Sexual Assault Counselor training is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with local sexual assault support programs is a plus.
