Medical Assistance Supervisor

This is a project position that supervises a customer service team providing support to Medicaid providers throughout the State of Washington. The position is a working supervisor who will support their team by responding to high-level provider inquiries and issues, as well as managing team operations including staff schedules and prioritization of tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Plans, organizes, reviews, and supervises the work of assigned Medical Assistance Specialists, trainees, and support staff in a collective bargaining environment.
- Hires, counsels, evaluates, disciplines, and trains staff.
- Plans, organizes, implements, and monitors PE activities including staff assignments, phone schedules, online and hard copy provider applications, online provider modifications, provider enrollment correspondence, and activities related to the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
- Monitors inventories of applications and modifications and real-time call performance data and makes decisions regarding staffing levels and task assignments.
- Interprets medical assistance WAC, CFR, RCW, program policies, and procedures, and provides direct assistance and guidance to Medical Assistance Specialists on complex provider enrollment issues.
- Assists management and operations staff in developing new policies and procedures for provider enrollment and ACA activities, and monitoring PE compliance with WAC, CFR, RCW, and HCA policy.
- Composes, edits, and formalizes letters in response to provider written and verbal inquiries.
- Responds to inquiries, complaints, and requests for information from legislative staff, Governor's office, and other provider or client advocates and stakeholders.
- Develops training methods, manuals, and resource directories.
- Trains, evaluates, and monitors ongoing in-service training requirements for subordinate staff.
Qualifying candidates will meet one of the following criteria options:
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of experience providing direct client services or counseling of customers in the areas of health insurance, disability, or other related health benefits; public assistance eligibility determination; health insurance premiums/claims processing, adjusting, and investigation; or other medical premiums/claims related experience.
- Option 2: Associate degree and six (6) years of experience providing direct client services or counseling of customers in the areas of health insurance, disability, or other related health benefits; public assistance eligibility determination; health insurance premiums/claims processing, adjusting, and investigation; or other medical premiums/claims related experience.
- Option 3: Eight (8) years of experience providing direct client services or counseling of customers in the areas of health insurance, disability, or other related health benefits; public assistance eligibility determination; health insurance premiums/claims processing, adjusting, and investigation; or other medical premiums/claims related experience.
- Option 4: One (1) year as a Medical Assistance Specialist 4.
- Option 5: Two (2) years as a Medical Assistance Specialist 3.
Demonstrated experience resolving complex Medicaid provider issues. Proficient in the use of the Provider subsystem in ProviderOne.
