We invite you to become a member of our expanding multidisciplinary team of designers and engineers who are pioneering the next generation of nuclear power facilities. Holtec International is on the lookout for qualified candidates for the position of HVAC Systems Engineer. The selected Engineer will be tasked with the design of HVAC systems tailored for the structures within the SMR-160 power facility.

This role necessitates regular collaboration with various engineering disciplines and regulatory groups, alongside proficient management of system integration tasks.

The Engineer should possess a strong desire to acquire new competencies to devise practical and feasible solutions to intricate design challenges. This position will involve participation in a U.S. Government cost-shared development initiative, demanding efficient execution of engineering tasks.

Key Responsibilities:


• Design HVAC systems for power generation facilities
• Provide guidance to contractors in the design of HVAC systems
• Collaborate with suppliers to innovate designs addressing unique challenges
• Analyze process flow diagrams, piping/ducting, and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID/D&ID), system descriptions, specifications, and thermal and pressure loss calculations, as well as control logic.

• Generate calculations for required breathing air in enclosed areas and assess air leakages from rooms/buildings.
• Formulate equipment specifications and engage with vendors to secure input and design validation for various components.
• Evaluate vendor/contractor designs to ensure adherence to industry standards and system/component specifications.

Essential Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is mandatory.
• Solid academic foundation in HVAC principles. 5-10 years of experience in HVAC system design for the energy sector.
• Proficient communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce accurate documentation.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, problem-solving, and computer proficiency.
• Eligibility to work under 10 CFR Part 810.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, or a closely related discipline.

• Industry experience in the design of HVAC systems for nuclear power facilities
• Experience collaborating with engineers and fabricators to develop designs and technical drawings.

• Familiarity with ASHRAE standards.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Proficiency in AutoCAD usage.
