Job Overview

The Program Coordinator plays a vital role in the seamless operation of the Bread & Roses Food Services, which encompasses the Bread & Roses Training Kitchen, Catering, and Café. This position is responsible for providing essential administrative and operational support to ensure high-quality service and effective program execution.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support:

  • Assist the Program Manager in scheduling and organizing classes, events, and guest chef appearances, including vendor coordination and logistics management.
  • Manage administrative tasks for the Bread & Roses Café, including documentation and reporting to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee catering administration, including invoicing and client communication.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and storage areas, coordinating deep cleaning efforts as necessary.
  • Prepare and disseminate various communications and documents, ensuring clarity and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with culinary staff to monitor inventory and manage procurement of kitchen supplies within budgetary constraints.
  • Support food service preparations by sourcing necessary materials and tracking food costs to meet financial objectives.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of student attendance and academic performance.
  • Ensure the successful coordination of internal and external catering events, maintaining high standards of service.
  • Manage a roster of graduates available for catering projects.

Recruitment and Outreach:

  • Identify and establish partnerships with agencies serving low-income populations to recruit program participants.
  • Assist in conducting information sessions and interviews for prospective vocational students.
  • Foster relationships with local vendors to secure food donations and job opportunities for students.
  • Plan community engagement activities to enhance program visibility.
  • Support comprehensive vocational assessments to align student skills with training opportunities.

Training and Externship Coordination:

  • Assist in evaluating student skills and matching them with appropriate externship placements.
  • Support the evaluation of student progress during externships and maintain communication with all stakeholders.
  • Facilitate training sessions to prepare students for careers in food service.
  • Collaborate with program staff to refine curriculum and instructional materials to enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Conduct follow-ups with alumni to support their transition into the workforce.
Qualifications

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with diverse populations.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience in teaching or facilitating skill development classes.
  • Knowledge of food service operations, including budgeting and vendor management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Education, Hospitality, or Culinary Arts.
  • Two years of relevant experience in education, management, or food services.

Certifications:

  • CPR, First Aid, and ServSafe Food Handler Certification required.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site visits.

Work Environment:
