Position Overview:
The Department of Clinical Sciences at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine seeks a dedicated individual for the role of Clinical Assistant Professor specializing in Emergency and Critical Care (ECC).

Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will engage in the education and mentorship of veterinary students and house officers, deliver advanced specialty medical care, and contribute to scholarly activities.

Teaching and Instruction:
In addition to clinical rotation teaching, the role includes formal instruction within the DVM program and for house officers. There are ample opportunities for innovative teaching methods and leadership roles in the ongoing curriculum development.

Clinical Environment:
The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of seven ACVECC Diplomates, 12 residents, and 15 rotating interns at the Foster Hospital for Small Animals (FHSA). The ECC program operates an emergency service that handles approximately 15,000 cases annually, alongside an ICU that accommodates around 2,000 critically ill patients each year.

Collaboration and Innovation:
We foster a collaborative environment with an open ICU, working closely with other specialty services to ensure the highest quality of patient care. The ECC team is committed to creating a stimulating and innovative clinical atmosphere.

Research and Development:
An established Clinical Trials Office coordinates various ongoing investigations into new therapies, medical devices, and diagnostic tests, enhancing our commitment to advancing veterinary medicine.

Facilities and Resources:
Our facilities include ACVECC Veterinary Trauma Center Level 1 designation, VECCS Level 1 Facility certification, and advanced diagnostic tools such as a 1.5T MRI, helical multi-slice CT, and a fully equipped nuclear medicine suite.

Work Schedule:
This position entails a minimum of 30 weeks of assigned clinical duties, including evenings and weekends. The remaining time can be allocated to service-related activities, research, and teaching, based on the candidate's interests.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess a DVM (or equivalent) degree and have completed an ACVECC or ECVECC approved residency prior to starting. Certification by ACVECC or ECVECC is required, to be achieved within two years of hire.

Professional Development:
Preference will be given to candidates with ACVECC or ECVECC board certification and relevant post-residency clinical experience. Evidence of collegiality and a commitment to teaching excellence are essential.

Compensation:
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
