Overview: GeorgiaGov is dedicated to providing assistance to families with youth aged 6-21 who face complex mental health challenges. Our Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) role is crucial in offering support to these families through various means.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Empower youth and families by enhancing their skills for a successful recovery journey, including self-advocacy, problem-solving, goal-setting, and coping strategies.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and support.
  • Facilitate participation in community meetings and help navigate system processes related to recovery.
  • Assist in identifying natural support systems and accessing necessary resources to maintain youth and young adults in the least restrictive environments.
  • Support families in recognizing and fulfilling their basic and additional resource needs.
  • Encourage youth and families to envision and work towards a meaningful life by leveraging their strengths and addressing their unique challenges.
  • Promote the significance of self-care and holistic health and wellness.
  • Utilize personal experiences to inspire hope and progress in recovery.

This collaboration enables us to implement essential activities by researching, developing, and testing a structured multi-agency care coordination protocol aimed at eliminating barriers and facilitating timely access to appropriate care for youth and families.

Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED is required, along with three years of relevant experience in a social services role, or one year of experience in a lower-level position.
