Psychological Services Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled School Psychologist I to join our team at Gwinnett County Public Schools. As a key member of our Psychological Services department, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic and emotional well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive psycho-educational assessments for students referred by local school Student Support Teams or special education.
- Consult regularly with teachers, counselors, parents, and administrators to develop interventions for students demonstrating learning and/or behavioral problems.
- Participate as an instrumental member of Student Support Teams to support general education students in the intervention process.
- Participate on eligibility and re-evaluation teams to help determine the need for special education services for students.
- Assist school personnel in providing assistance during crises and ensure availability to counsel students referred by counselors, teachers, and administrators.
- Conduct and attend in-service training and presentations to teachers, parents, and school faculties.
- Develop written documents of comprehensive assessments for supplemental files.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement efforts for all departmental processes.
- Must hold or be eligible for a valid certificate in school psychology.
- National Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) certification preferred.
- Completion of a state-approved certification preparation program in school psychology at the specialist degree level or higher, or completion of a master's degree plus 60 graduate semester hours/90 quarter hours of school psychology course work from a National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)-approved program.
- Completion of a successful year's internship in conjunction with public schools following conferred degree required.
- Three years experience as a school psychologist preferred.
The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
