Position Overview


The Technical Training Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive instruction to JetBlue Airways' Technical Operations personnel and associated partners, contributing to the mission of JetBlue University (JBU) and Technical Operations through their specialized knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct classroom and hands-on training sessions (OJT)
  • Exemplify exemplary Technician conduct consistently
  • Maintain proficiency in Aircraft Systems, Technical Operations protocols, and relevant Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert to create, assess, update, and improve Technical Operations training materials and documentation for JetBlue University
  • Represent JetBlue at industry conferences and events
  • Perform additional tasks as required
Required Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings
  • A minimum of five (5) years of varied experience in aircraft maintenance
  • Ability to obtain and retain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
  • Capability to operate and maneuver aircraft, drive tugs, trucks, lift trucks, and other vehicles
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Physical ability to crawl, bend, kneel, climb, and stoop in confined spaces
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a collaborative environment
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License with a driving record that meets JetBlue Airways' insurance and airport authority standards
  • Awareness of moving vehicles and aircraft
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (40%)
  • Must have valid travel documents to travel in and out of the United States to any location JetBlue operates or plans to operate
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening
  • Legal eligibility to work in the country of the position
  • Authorization to work in the US is mandatory; this position does not qualify for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three (3) years of experience with A320/A220 maintenance
  • Three (3) years of instructional experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organizational capabilities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment
Crewmember Expectations:

  • Consistent attendance and punctuality
  • Flexibility in working hours and availability for short-notice responses
  • Maintain a professional appearance
  • Assist with light cleaning of the aircraft when working or traveling on JetBlue flights, if time allows
  • Align with JetBlue's cultural values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun
  • Fulfill safety responsibilities as outlined by JetBlue's Safety Management System
  • Act as a Safety Ambassador by promoting JetBlue's top priority of safety, supporting the Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy, and behavioral standards
  • Identify and report safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents, or hazards through appropriate channels, including JetBlue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) and Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.), and company policies, procedures, and risk controls
  • Understand and contribute to JetBlue's safety performance metrics and how they relate to individual responsibilities
Equipment:

  • Computer and standard office equipment
  • Acquire tools from the Minimum Tool List within thirty (30) days of employment
  • Receive necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) such as reflective safety vests and ear protection
  • Utilize handheld two-way radios, headsets, and/or phones
Work Environment:

  • Live maintenance setting
  • Standard office environment
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Irregular shifts; training operations available 24/7
  • Potential temporary assignments at remote locations
  • Ability to work at elevated heights
Physical Demands

  • This position requires significant physical exertion, involving lifting objects weighing over seventy (70) to one hundred (100) pounds. (Very Heavy)
Compensation:

  • The salary range for this role is between $87,360 and $138,902. This base salary is part of JetBlue's comprehensive compensation package, which may also include healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with company matching, a stock purchase plan for employees, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, and complimentary travel on JetBlue flights, among other benefits.
