About the Role

Morningstar, Inc., a leading global provider of independent investment research and data, is seeking an experienced licensed data seller to serve in the Index data business. The Index business is responsible for the creation and distribution of Morningstar's Index Intellectual Property.

The Team

The Morningstar Indexes Team is responsible for developing new, innovative indexes for use by asset managers, wealth management, and asset owners in serving their clients' investment needs.

The Opportunity

This role will require approximately 25% travel and will be based in Chicago. We are operating in a hybrid environment (3 days/in office).

Key Responsibilities

  1. Exceed Sales Targets - High performer who can exceed quarterly and annual sales targets.
  2. Hunter Mentality - This role will require significant hunting (outbound calling, emailing, etc.) and success will depend upon your ability to proactively uncover short- and long-term strategic opportunities with clients and prospects.
  3. Forecasting and Pipeline Management - As a seller in a defined territory, you will be asked to forecast with accuracy and keep the CRM (Salesforce) clean with appropriate dates, notes, documents, and information.
  4. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams - Proactively collaborate with Index product, marketing, and client service teams to determine optimal solutions for sales opportunities.
  5. Product Knowledge and Demonstrations - Master product demonstrations and knowledge of product capabilities and benefits.
  6. Client Relationship Building - Establish and build key client relationships individually and with the Morningstar generalist sales team covering both enterprise and mid-market accounts.

Qualifications

  1. Experience and Qualifications - Candidates should have at least five (5) years of sales and account management experience, preferably in the investment index industry.
  2. Proven Track Record - Proven track record of exceeding prior annual sales targets.
  3. Client Relationship Building - Ability to build long-term client relationships with executive and senior leadership within an assigned book of business through a hands-on, collaborative, organized approach.
  4. Communication and Presentation Skills - Excellent verbal and written communication abilities and the ability to deliver professional and persuasive presentations.
  5. Complex Concept Understanding - Ability to understand complex investment concepts.
