We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Account Clerk to join our team at the City of Hermosa Beach. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of technical and clerical accounting duties, including financial record keeping, data entry, and report preparation.
Key Responsibilities- Perform financial record keeping duties, including preparing, maintaining, and reconciling various records and files.
- Enter data into our financial accounting system, including posting information to various city accounts and funds.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, analyses, and reports, including compiling data and exercising good judgment in maintaining information and records.
- Perform duties in support of the City's accounts receivable and payable functions, including generating invoices, reviewing for accuracy, and ensuring timely payments.
- Prepare 1099s and use tax returns, as well as ensure invoices and purchase orders follow purchasing policies.
- Perform a variety of payroll functions, including inputting employee time sheets, verifying hours and time off, and processing payroll checks.
- High school diploma or equivalent and three years of technical and clerical accounting experience.
- Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License with a safe driving record.
- Ability to perform a variety of technical accounting and office support duties, including data entry, record keeping, and report preparation.
- Strong mathematical skills and ability to operate a ten-key calculator.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public and fellow employees.
This position is located in a standard office environment with extensive public contact and constant interruptions. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
