Nutrition Program Supervisor

PRIMARY ROLE:

Support the Director of Nutrition Services in managing the food service operations across the District, ensuring that all students receive healthy and balanced meals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

LEADERSHIP & OVERSIGHT:

  • Oversee staff assignments, schedules, and adherence to policies.
  • Facilitate meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Evaluate and supervise team members to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety regulations.
  • Promote a secure workplace through comprehensive staff training.
  • Manage administrative staff to ensure timely report and transaction processing.
  • Deliver ongoing training to address staff needs and regulatory updates.

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT:

  • Assist in the daily operations of cafeteria services and meal observations.
  • Coordinate food services for special events and field trips.
  • Engage with suppliers regarding orders and food safety protocols.
  • Ensure cafeteria operations meet all regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with the Director on menu planning and cafeteria requirements.

TRAINING & GROWTH:

  • Guide and train staff to ensure compliance with established policies.
  • Provide insights on employee performance and assist in recruitment.
  • Work with maintenance teams to ensure facility operations run smoothly.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Participate in meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Engage with students, staff, vendors, and community members.
  • Oversee kitchen renovations and improvement projects.
  • Continuously innovate menu options and recipes for student meals.

SPECIFIC TASKS:

  • Conduct daily visits to schools to assess compliance and training needs.
  • Provide constructive feedback and coaching to team members.
  • Assist in managing food service operations and catering functions.
  • Stay updated on nutrition program policies and guidelines.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Contemporary methods and equipment utilized in food service.
  • Understanding of labor laws, contracts, and human resource practices.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Implement a comprehensive district nutrition program.
  • Develop balanced menus and recipes to enhance meal participation.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with staff and community stakeholders.
  • Analyze operational processes to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Relevant education, training, and experience in food systems management, nutrition, or related disciplines.

CERTIFICATIONS:

ServSafe Food Manager Certification is mandatory.
