PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

The Registered Dietitian's primary objective is to assist the Medically Tailored Meals team in nutrition planning, program creation, and quality control.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assess program eligibility and conduct intake for Medically Tailored Meals services.
  2. Perform comprehensive nutrition evaluations.
  3. Create and execute personalized nutrition strategies.
  4. Review and oversee all meal and grocery plans for Medically Tailored Meals.
  5. Ensure that menu selections are nutritious and culturally sensitive.
  6. Organize and lead regular nutrition workshops and training sessions.
  7. Collaborate with other agencies and providers to maintain continuity of care.
  8. Facilitate medical referrals in conjunction with managed care plans.
  9. Engage in weekly case conference discussions.
  10. Participate in assigned program and agency training sessions.
  11. Keep precise participant records in various information management systems and generate reports as needed.
  12. Safeguard and manage confidential information in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  13. Maintain a well-organized filing system.
  14. Ensure that intake and care processes adhere to harm reduction and trauma-informed care principles.
  15. Regularly check and respond to electronic communications.
  16. Uphold confidentiality standards.
  17. Other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  1. Proficient in speaking and writing in English at a professional level.
  2. High level of confidentiality is essential.
  3. Ability to support and promote The Salvation Army's mission.
  4. Competent in using computer software in a Windows environment (Microsoft Office, Word, Publisher, Excel, and Outlook preferred).
  5. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Professional telephone etiquette and demeanor.
  7. Strong organizational capabilities.
  8. Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
  1. Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, or a related discipline.
  2. Registered Dietitian credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) is required.
  3. Food handler's certification is mandatory.
  4. Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License and the ability to operate a Salvation Army vehicle.
  5. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  6. Authorization for The Salvation Army to enroll in the CA DMV Pull Notice Program.
  7. Completion of The Salvation Army vehicle training course.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously.
  2. Capability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
  3. Ability to reach overhead.
  4. Proficient in operating a telephone.
  5. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 25-40 lbs.
  6. Ability to use a computer effectively.
  7. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
  8. Proficient in using basic office equipment such as PCs, fax machines, telephones, calculators, copiers, and printers.
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. This position is grant-funded, and its continuation is subject to the renewal of grant funding.
