POSITION OVERVIEW
The Registered Dietitian plays a crucial role in enhancing the Medically Tailored Meals initiative through effective nutrition planning, program design, and quality oversight.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assess client eligibility and intake for Medically Tailored Meals services.
2. Perform comprehensive nutrition evaluations.
3. Create and execute personalized nutrition strategies.
4. Review and supervise all meal and grocery plans for Medically Tailored Meals.
5. Ensure that menu selections are nutritious and culturally sensitive.
6. Organize and facilitate regular nutrition workshops and training sessions.
7. Collaborate with external agencies and providers to guarantee seamless care.
8. Manage medical referrals in partnership with contracted managed care organizations.
9. Engage in weekly case review meetings.
10. Participate in training sessions for programs and the agency as required.
11. Maintain precise participant records in various information management systems and generate reports as needed.
12. Uphold confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
13. Develop and maintain an organized filing system.
14. Ensure that intake and care processes incorporate harm reduction and trauma-informed care principles.
15. Regularly check and respond to communications.
16. Adhere to confidentiality protocols.
17. Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• Proficient in written and spoken English at a professional level.
• High level of confidentiality and integrity.
• Ability to support and promote The Salvation Army's mission.
• Competent in computer applications, particularly in a Windows environment (Microsoft Office Suite).
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Professional telephone etiquette and demeanor.
• Strong organizational capabilities.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, or a related discipline.
• Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) is mandatory.
• Food handler's certification is required.
• Valid California Class C Driver License is necessary, along with the ability to operate a Salvation Army vehicle.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Authorization for The Salvation Army to enroll in the CA DMV Pull Notice Program.
• Completion of The Salvation Army vehicle training course.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously.
• Capability to grasp, push, and pull objects.
• Ability to reach overhead and operate a telephone.
• Capacity to lift weights ranging from 25 to 40 lbs.
• Proficient in using a computer and processing various forms of information.
• Competence in operating basic office equipment such as PCs, fax machines, telephones, calculators, copiers, and printers.
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

This position is funded by a grant and its continuation is contingent upon the renewal of the grant funding.Employment in this role is dependent on the ongoing availability of funding, and there is no guarantee of continuation beyond the current funding period.
