Job Description

The Business Development Manager plays a crucial role in driving growth and revenue for FSP. This individual will be responsible for developing new and potential accounts within a defined territory, working closely with prospective clients to understand their current life safety service program and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proactively seek out new business opportunities through prospecting activities and networking with decision-makers.
  • Develop risk-mitigation strategies to assist clients in budgeting for lifecycle projects and eliminating costly emergency service calls.
  • Present pricing options for service and planned maintenance agreements and assist clients in budgeting for future programs.
  • Build strong business partnerships by gaining clients' trust, meeting their objectives, and delivering value-added solutions.
  • Generate and deliver impactful proposals with professional, dynamic, executive-level presentations that lead to signed contracts.
  • Participate in sales and industry training and convert that training into sales results.
  • Collaborate with branch operations and sales team members to ensure clients' needs are met and priorities are adjusted as needed.
  • Develop an understanding of applicable codes to apply to FSP's life safety programs.
  • Track all sales activities in our CRM.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 3+ years of related sales experience required.
  • Preferred direct-to-end-user sales experience within Fire and Life Safety, particularly with Testing & Inspections.
  • Technical expertise or aptitude strongly desired; a bonus to have a background in many and all facets of the life safety and security business.
  • Ability to communicate and present effectively to groups at all levels, including executive.
  • Leadership of customer engagements and the desire, ability, and skills to manage the entire sales cycle.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with existing clients to maintain present sales and facilitate add-on business features and services.
  • Ability to collaborate with other individuals, departments, and teams.
  • Strong ability to write compelling, detailed sales proposals.
  • Must be well organized and able to handle multiple proposals and processes simultaneously.
  • Motivated to grow professionally, personally, and financially.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite as well as a CRM platform.

Physical Requirements:
  • Mobility: May need to travel frequently to meet clients or attend meetings.
  • Lifting: There may be instances of needing to lift, carry, and transport objects safely.
  • Vision: Good eyesight to read documents, analyze data, and represent information to clients.
  • Hearing: Normal hearing to effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Stamina: Often work long hours and multitask.
