POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Accountant is responsible for overseeing project progress, analyzing discrepancies, authorizing expenditures, and ensuring timely billing and collection of payments from clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establish project accounts within the financial system.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts and amendments.
  • Collaborate with the Project Team to adjust for changes in project scope or schedule.
  • Execute all postings, allocations, and accruals related to projects.
  • Review and authorize supplier invoices pertinent to specific projects.
  • Analyze project discrepancies and prepare variance reports for management.
  • Coordinate with accounts receivable personnel regarding outstanding contract billings.
  • Provide management with reports on project profitability.
  • Update management on the remaining budget for projects.
  • Generate or approve all project-related invoices for clients. Enter customer billings in Intacct and Ariba.
  • Investigate all project costs that have not been billed to clients.
  • Address inquiries for additional details from clients.
  • Finalize project accounts upon completion of projects.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related business field; or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
  • Proficient in data entry, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor payments.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Key competencies include communication, teamwork, initiative, and reliability.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with general financial and cost accounting principles.
  • Understanding of and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar applications, as well as accounting software.
  • Demonstrated ability to build long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationships with clients.
  • A positive demeanor that is conscientious, enthusiastic, articulate, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and suppliers while working effectively as part of a team.
