Position Summary

The Stewarding Operations Manager is accountable for leading the stewarding team, ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas in a high-volume restaurant environment. This role involves overseeing banquet setup and breakdown, maintaining inventory for kitchen and banquet supplies, and supporting the Executive Sous Chef in executing operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional service experiences to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage daily stewarding operations to surpass departmental objectives.
  • Uphold rigorous standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety across all kitchen spaces.
  • Develop and implement a consistent cleaning and maintenance schedule for kitchen facilities and equipment.
  • Lead recruitment and hiring initiatives for the department.
  • Enhance food preparation safety by providing comprehensive training on sanitation and accident prevention.
  • Review and analyze monthly departmental performance and budget, addressing concerns and formulating improvement strategies.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of all food and beverage areas.
  • Possess knowledge of cleaning agents and chemicals, including familiarity with MSDS protocols.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills, ensuring attention to detail while adhering to deadlines.
  • Establish staffing guidelines to optimize efficiency and control labor costs.
  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Assist with purchasing responsibilities as necessary.
  • Coordinate effectively with external vendors and regulatory bodies, including health inspections.
  • Communicate departmental policies and standards to team members, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
  • Oversee inventory management based on first-in-first-out principles, maintaining appropriate stock levels.
  • Mentor participants in the Pathways Mentorship Program, guiding them towards management roles.
  • Maintain a reliable attendance record with minimal absences.
  • Complete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Supervisory Duties

This role involves direct supervision of multiple staff members, executing responsibilities in alignment with organizational policies and legal standards. Duties include interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating employee performance, as well as addressing any workplace issues.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience in Food & Beverage management is essential.
  • Must obtain and maintain relevant food safety certifications.
  • Demonstrate the ability to engage positively with guests and team members.
  • Exhibit strong guest service skills and self-motivation to complete tasks independently.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with guests and colleagues.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
