Job Summary

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University is seeking a highly skilled Financial Aid Officer II to join our team of professionals. As a key member of our financial aid department, you will be responsible for coordinating all activities related to special programs, including processing, awarding, and tracking of financial aid packages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all activities related to special programs, including processing, awarding, and tracking of financial aid packages.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to prospective and current students via email, phone, and in-person.
  • Advise current and prospective students on application procedures, eligibility criteria, program requirements, and other financial aid concerns.
  • Counsel students on financial aid processing, awarding, scholarships, and debt management.
  • Monitor, analyze, and manage all Bursar functions for special programs, including student payments, balances due, and student refunds statuses.
  • Coordinate the HWCOM Scholarship Stewardship program.
  • Track participation, reports, and prepare student materials for the HWCOM's Office of Financial Assistance Debt Management programs and other financial aid presentations.
  • Conduct presentations for current and prospective students.
  • Prepare and compile reports for the HWCOM's Office of Financial Assistance, including Scholarship Committee meetings, Debt Management programs, and OSA curriculum.
  • Manage ImageNow processing, CanvasMED integration, electronic forms, and website updates for special programs.
  • Research and analyze complex financial aid problems and recommend and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Act as a change agent in all matters regarding the improvement and efficiency of projects.
  • Prepare materials for special projects, including annual programs such as Donor and Scholars events, Welcome Back, Interview Days, and Orientation.
  • Maintain the Financial Assistance Office's schedules and calendars, and answer questions for visitors and enrolled students regarding office policies, procedures, and services.
  • Create and design PowerPoint presentations, info-graphics, flyers, and other reports.
  • Develop and implement procedures for special programs to improve and streamline the financial aid process.
  • Ensure confidentiality of student records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Attend and participate in professional workshops, meetings, and training sessions to ensure adequate professional development as it pertains to current financial aid rules and regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of financial aid or related experience or a Master's degree and one (1) year of financial aid or related experience.
