Nursing Department Head, Ambulatory Clinics

The Clinical Nurse Supervisor is a critical position at The University of Texas at Austin, playing a key role in delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of ambulatory care units. This role reports directly to the Nurse Manager and oversees a team of clinical support staff, including RNs, LVNs, CMAs, and technicians.
Salary Range
$93,500-$100,000+ annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of clinical support staff to ensure efficient patient care delivery.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve clinical operations, including staffing schedules, workflow optimization, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to ensure staff are adequately trained, supported, and developed to meet the evolving needs of the department.
- Act as a liaison between clinical teams, management, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- Provide direct nursing care to patient populations as needed based on clinic staffing ratios.
Requirements
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Texas with at least 2 years of nursing experience.
- BLS certification required.
- Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients.
- Familiarity with business office machines, including computers, Microsoft Word tools, multi-line phones, copiers, and fax machines.
