Job Overview and Responsibilities

Entry-Level Engineering Technician Opportunities Available.

Under the guidance of a Senior Transportation Engineer, the Transportation Engineering Technician engages in tasks that necessitate fundamental engineering expertise and capabilities. Responsibilities include the development of plans, specifications, cost estimates, design schematics, written reports, presentations, construction oversight, materials evaluation, contract management, and various related functions for transportation initiatives.

Candidates may be evaluated for eligibility based on their performance on the Transportation Engineering Technician examination. For individuals lacking current eligibility (such as transfers, permissive reinstatements, or voluntary demotions) and/or those new to state civil service roles, inclusion on the state examination list is required to qualify for these positions.

The Human Resources department is available to address inquiries regarding the application process, while the Hiring Unit can provide insights about the position.

Special Qualifications

  • A valid driver's license is mandatory for operating state-owned or leased vehicles.
  • The position requires a valid and unrestricted Class C driver's license.
  • A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is necessary.
