Job Title: Service Writer

Custom Truck One Source is seeking a highly skilled Service Writer to join our team. As a Service Writer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our rental repair facility.

Job Summary

As a Service Writer, you will be responsible for overseeing the Work Order process from start to finish. You will work closely with the Service Manager to resolve customer conflicts and maintain excellent customer service. You will also work with Shop and Field Technicians to ensure accurate invoicing for internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Identify problems and services by listening to customer descriptions of symptoms and clarifying problem descriptions.
  • Verify warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers, explaining provisions.
  • Develop estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor, calculating customer payments, including deductibles.
  • Contact fleet management companies that require authorization to start work or require estimates before authorizing repairs to begin.
  • Prepare Work Orders by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering Work Orders into the service database system.
  • Assist with scheduling work and issuing work to Service Technicians.
  • Maintain customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle; obtaining customer approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing and temporary transportation.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Professional personal appearance.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to set priorities and adapt to changing work priorities while meeting deadlines and schedules.
  • Self-sufficiency and drive.
  • General aptitude in working with common computer software (MS Office Suite, internet, etc.) to process orders.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing a positive service experience.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years' experience in Supply Chain, Purchasing, or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of aerial vehicles, equipment, and heavy and light-duty trucks.
Working Conditions
  • The job will be in an office environment, and hours of work (8-10 hours per day) may vary based on the needs of the company.
Physical Requirements
  • Will be required to work five days a week with 8-10 hours shifts, with some Saturdays as needed.
