The Office Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the staffing function, ensuring the optimal allocation of consulting resources to align with the operational needs of the organization. This position is crucial in providing each consulting team member with the necessary development opportunities throughout their career journey.

The responsibilities of this role encompass a variety of activities focused on the growth, mentorship, recruitment, and retention of the consulting team. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Oversee the staffing process in collaboration with counterparts across the organization.
  2. Facilitate the professional development of all consulting personnel.
  3. Act as the primary contact for matters related to team morale, retention, and engagement.
  4. Strategically plan and manage team structures to support the operational goals of the organization.
  5. Lead the Business Services Team within the office.
  6. Ensure the operational framework of the office is effective, including management of support services such as administration, IT, HR, and real estate.
  7. Collaborate with the finance team to enhance profitability and strategic planning.
  8. Provide guidance and support to leadership and partners within the office.
  9. Represent the office and actively engage in regional initiatives.

1. Oversee Staffing Processes:

  • Manage daily staffing operations for all consulting personnel, aligning staffing decisions with career aspirations and business requirements.
  • Utilize sound judgment to prioritize tasks, communicate potential issues, and negotiate resolutions to conflicts.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the consulting team to gather insights on staffing decisions and enforce staffing policies.
  • Work closely with the partner team to monitor upcoming needs and maintain awareness of business priorities.
  • Provide insights to leadership regarding business trends and staffing analytics.
  • Ensure staffing aligns with career development processes and client priorities, fostering a culture of transparency and balance.
  • Coordinate with regional and global staffing teams for cross-office resource allocation.

2. Facilitate Professional Development:

  • Administer career development processes for consulting staff.
  • Develop and maintain mentorship programs.
  • Ensure the delivery of relevant training and development opportunities.
  • Support career transitions and mobility initiatives for consulting personnel.
  • Manage compensation processes in accordance with regional guidelines.
  • Oversee recruitment efforts for consulting staff at all levels.
  • Lead initiatives related to people management as required.

This role demands a highly qualified individual with both technical expertise and essential interpersonal skills.

  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive work experience, ideally within a professional services environment.
  • The ideal candidate will possess:
    • Experience in managing consulting services within a leading firm.
    • Experience in a corporate setting recognized for excellence in operational management and talent development.
  • A bachelor's degree is required; an MBA or similar advanced degree is preferred.
