Position Overview

Role Summary:

The HR Operations Lead will deliver comprehensive HR support and expertise to our New Jersey office throughout the employee lifecycle. This position will emphasize various HR functions, including employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding, transitions, and separations, as well as recruitment, performance management, and compensation for the Business Services Team.

The HR Operations Lead will oversee the HR function and team for the New Jersey office while also being an integral part of the broader HR community across North America.

Key Responsibilities:

For all New Jersey office personnel:

  1. Employee Relations:
    • Collaborate with Operations Associates, Human Capital Services, Office Coordinators, managers, and employees to address a range of workplace and employee relations matters; provide guidance and pursue solutions that balance individual, firm, and functional needs.
    • Interpret and implement HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and adherence.
    • Engage with the internal legal team on employment-related issues as necessary.
    • Offer advice and counsel on effective approaches and practices while generating options for achieving favorable outcomes.
  2. Benefits Administration:
    • Provide general support to New Jersey employees regarding benefits offerings.
    • Coordinate with the US Benefits team to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of benefits information.
    • Engage the US Benefits team to address any issues or inquiries.
    • Oversee leaves of absence, workers' compensation, short-term disability, long-term disability, and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) compliance.
  3. Onboarding, Transfers, and Departures:
    • Facilitate a seamless transition for new hires, delivering orientation and benefits training while coordinating with internal resources.
    • Manage the preparation of offer letters and temporary contracts, including background checks; coordinate secondments to meet staffing needs.
    • Oversee complex internal transfers, including movements between functions, offices, and countries.
    • Coordinate the US immigration process by collaborating with the regional immigration team, global mobility team, legal counsel, and expatriates.
    • Maintain comprehensive employee files, including employment documents, I-9s, immigration records, benefits information, and EEO tracking.
    • Manage the complete Career Transition Process, including all related documentation and conducting thorough exit processes.
  4. For the Business Services Team (BST):
    • Work closely with hiring managers to identify staffing needs, define role descriptions, determine candidate qualifications, and establish compensation.
    • Lead the sourcing, interviewing, and hiring processes.
  5. BST Compensation:
    • Collaborate with the Office Coordinator and regional teams to establish base compensation for BST hires in line with regional guidelines.
    • Provide guidance to ensure equity in base and variable compensation across functions.
  6. BST Performance Management:
    • Oversee the annual performance management process for New Jersey BST employees, including goal setting, mid-year check-ins, and year-end reviews.
    • Ensure consistent interpretation and application of performance management guidelines.
    • Provide effective advice, coaching, and guidance to employees and managers as needed.
    • Support managers and employees throughout the performance management process with accurate and timely information.
    • Promote a strong leadership and coaching environment; create and manage Performance Improvement Plans.
    • Assist managers in identifying development opportunities for employees.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. New Jersey HR Team:
    • Supervise the local HR Associate, overseeing daily activities.
    • Foster a stimulating work environment through effective communication; motivate, develop, and provide coaching opportunities.
  2. Office Management and Leadership:
    • Partner with Operations Associates, the Partner team, and BST Functional Leadership to address HR matters and understand business challenges.
    • Drive the agenda for Functional Leadership team meetings and participate in crisis management efforts.
    • Engage in the broader HR community, participating in regional initiatives and projects.
    • Perform other duties and work on special projects as directed by the Operations Associate or Office Coordinator.

Basic Job Requirements:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Five or more years of human resources management experience in a progressive HR department within a professional services organization or equivalent.
